DHI & Sapphire Hair Transplant

DHI & Sapphire Hair Transplant

DHI, or Direct Hair Implantation, is a hair transplant technique whose aim is to give thinning areas a more natural, higher-quality appearance. Although it may seem like an entirely different technique, DHI is in fact based on the FUE method.

The advanced devices used in DHI play a major role in the success of the procedure. For this reason, Direct Hair Implantation is sometimes regarded as an even more successful method.

What Is a Sapphire Hair Transplant?

Sapphire hair transplantation is one of the techniques that has come to the fore thanks to advances in technology. Using special sapphire-tipped instruments increases the success rate of the transplant, and also ensures that you feel no pain during the procedure.

Like DHI, the sapphire hair transplant is performed using the FUE method, which makes the process easier for both the specialist and the patient. After a smooth and successful sapphire procedure, you can enjoy your natural hair again.

How Is a DHI Hair Transplant Performed?

DHI is performed under local anaesthesia using fine-tipped implanter pens. The density of the new hair is decided together by you and your hair transplant specialist during your consultation. Grafts taken from the donor area are then implanted into the areas affected by hair loss.

When implanting the grafts — which the specialist harvests one by one — it does not matter whether the area is shaved or unshaven. Because the goal is to achieve the ideal result through the specialist’s experience, the procedure is carried out with great precision. Completed in a single session, it takes between 6 and 8 hours depending on the area to be treated.

How Is a Sapphire Hair Transplant Performed?

In this procedure, which uses special sapphire-tipped pens, the transplant is carried out very delicately. Under local anaesthesia, the grafts that your specialist harvests from the donor area are implanted into the thinning area. Because the FUE technique is used, the grafts are harvested and implanted one by one.

As with DHI, the procedure can be performed shaved or unshaven, but shaved transplants achieve a much higher success rate. That is why our hair transplant specialists generally recommend the shaved option. The desired result can be achieved in a single session lasting 6 to 8 hours, although the exact time depends on the condition of the area being treated.

What Are the Advantages of DHI?

The advantages of a DHI hair transplant include:

  • Hair follicles are very likely to be implanted without damage,
  • Fewer incisions mean less pain and less bleeding,
  • Recovery time is shorter,
  • You can return to your daily life more quickly,
  • Follicles spend less time outside the body, which makes for a smooth implantation process.

What Are the Advantages of a Sapphire Hair Transplant?

The advantages of this procedure, also known as Sapphire FUE, include:

  • Sapphire blades reduce the risk of trauma and tissue damage,
  • High-quality blades allow follicles to be implanted more densely,
  • There is less swelling after the procedure and greater comfort,
  • Because a natural look is the priority, the risk of complications after the procedure is low,
  • It achieves a higher success rate than procedures performed with metal slits.
