Hair Transplant

Hair Transplant

A hair transplant is a procedure performed on areas that have become bald as a result of hair loss. Hair loss is one of the most common problems in the world and can happen for many different reasons, with genetics playing a particularly important role. Because our hair is such an important part of who we are, baldness caused by hair loss is something many people want to treat — and this is where hair transplantation comes in. For a more attractive, aesthetic look, you can benefit from a professional hair transplant. So how is a hair transplant performed?

How Is a Hair Transplant Performed?

A hair transplant is carried out by experienced specialists using microsurgery. After the area to be treated is sterilised, photographs are taken, and the area is then shaved. Once shaving is complete, local anaesthesia is applied and the procedure begins.

After the local anaesthesia, grafts are harvested from a donor area such as the back of the head, where hair is genetically resistant to falling out. The harvested grafts are then implanted one by one into the shaved area. Grafts are never placed at random: using instruments selected specifically for each patient, they are implanted according to a pre-planned design so that the front of the head appears denser.

What to Pay Attention to Before a Hair Transplant

A hair transplant is a very delicate procedure. To achieve the best possible result, there are a few points you should pay attention to beforehand. These are generally as follows:

  • Stop drinking alcohol and smoking at least 3 days before your hair transplant.
  • You should also stop taking blood-thinning medication before the procedure. Otherwise, heavy bleeding may occur during the operation.
  • If you have a chronic condition, share this with your doctor so that the necessary checks can be carried out.
  • Clean hair on the day of the procedure is one of the most important requirements. You should also wear comfortable clothes that are easy to put on and take off after the operation.
  • It is also very important not to come to the procedure on an empty stomach.

Recovery After a Hair Transplant

Recovery after a hair transplant varies from person to person. FUE offers the fastest recovery of all techniques. After FUE, you should rest for 3–4 days. The scalp, which is very sensitive at this stage, heals fully within about 3 weeks. Some shedding may occur after the third week, but new hair will grow in its place within 3–4 months. Between 6 and 12 months after the procedure, the transplanted hair becomes indistinguishable from your natural hair.

What to Pay Attention to After a Hair Transplant

Once the procedure is complete, you need to be very careful. The main points to follow after your hair transplant are listed below:

  • Follow all of your doctor’s recommendations after the procedure. Otherwise, the process may not be completed successfully.
  • Special lotion and shampoo are applied to the transplanted areas.
  • Washing with the special lotion and shampoo softens the skin. Once the scalp has softened, you can gently massage it with shampoo using light touches.
  • From 2 weeks after the procedure, this should be repeated every day. This helps your hair grow much faster.
  • Avoid direct sunlight so that your hair can grow healthily.
